One in 3 Pierce County households has at least 1 firearm. But among homes with children, only about 59% follow best practices for storing firearms securely.
Safely stored firearms are:
- Not loaded.
- Locked with at least one of these:
- Trigger lock.
- Cable lock.
- Lockbox.
- Gun safe.
We help prevent firearm injuries.
We help support firearm-injury prevention in Pierce County, primarily by providing lockboxes and encouraging safe habits. We:
- Provide free lockboxes at community events.
- Partner with community organizations and agencies to distribute lockboxes.
- Providing lockboxes directly to community members, as available.
