Drug Take-back Day is Every Day in Pierce County!

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Drug Enforcement Agency will host its National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Do you already have plans Saturday?

Don’t worry, because every day is Drug Take Back Day in Pierce County! And, it’s free!

You can safely and securely get rid of unwanted medications—any day of the week at locations across the county.

Secure medicine return services continue to expand

  • Kiosk drop-off locations are in your community at pharmacies, hospitals, and law enforcement sites.
  • 46 convenient kiosks are now available to drop off unwanted medications, with more locations added often.
  • Can’t make it to a kiosk? Request a free mail-back envelope.

It’s easy as finding a kiosk and dropping in your unwanted medication. There are no forms to fill out, and it’s free for residents! The pharmaceutical industry pays for the program.

Newest kiosk locations

New kiosks are now at:

  • CVS Pharmacy: 9400 Gravelly Lake Dr., Lakewood.
  • St Anthony’s Hospital Pharmacy: 11567 Canterwood Blvd. N.W., Gig Harbor.
  • St Joseph’s Hospital Pharmacy:1717 S. J St., Tacoma.

Soon all Washingtonians will enjoy everyday Drug Take Back.

In 2016, Tacoma-Pierce County Board of Health members passed a Secure Medicine Return Regulation—which led to the expanded program in the county.

Our regulation and the regulations of other local health departments were the model for a new state law. We will transition to the state law in a year or two. This means even more Washingtonians will have an easier and safer alternative to dispose of unwanted medications instead of hoarding them.
