    Internships for credit

    We provide supervised learning related to your field of study. Learn how to work with a team and interact with diverse groups of people.

    What kinds of opportunities are available?

    We have several options to choose from. Read more about what might work for you.

    Who can volunteer?

    You must be at least 16 years old.

    Where can I volunteer?

    Choose 1 of our 4 divisions:

    • Administrative Services.
    • Environmental Health.
    • Communicable Disease Control.
    • Strengthening Families.

    How do I apply?

    Step 1—Tell us about you.

    Complete the volunteer interest form. We will work with you to match your skills and interests with our needs.

    Step 2—Apply.

    When we have an opening, we will ask you to complete a packet. 

    Step 3—Application review, screening, and placement.

    We may contact you to further determine your interests and skills. We can’t guarantee placement. We will notify you by phone or email if you are not selected. If you are selected, we will contact you with a volunteer offer. You must successfully complete a:

    • Background check.
    • Reference check.
    • Drivers abstract record (if required).
    • Clinic appointment (to determine immunization/immunity).
    • Orientation with Human Resources. 

    If you accept, we will begin the screening process. Human Resources will provide you with a contingent offer in writing. You will receive a schedule for your first day, which includes an in-person orientation session.

    Internship practicum placement

    Your school or academic program must have an agency affiliation agreement with us. The process to establish new agreements can take four months or more. That might affect the start date or offer.

    • Human Resources will work with your school to establish an agency affiliation agreement.
    • Our site supervisor will work with you and your school to establish a Student Learning Practicum. This will align with the requirements of your academic program, and reflect your own professional goals and interests.
