    We offer competitive pay with a range fitting the unique skills, education and experience each position requires. You will get an annual cost-of-living adjustment that increases the salary range.

    Medical, vision, and dental insurance

    We pay a significant share of insurance premiums for employees and their family. Medical, vision and dental coverage begins the first day of the month following date of hire.*


    Eligible staff join the Tacoma Employees’ Retirement System (TERS). TERS is a defined retirement benefit plan funded by the employee and the employer. You contribute 9.66% of your gross salary and we contribute 11.34% to fund it. You can also contribute to our voluntary 457 deferred-compensation retirement plan.


    You’ll get 12 days your first year. Your accrual rate will increase 1 day each year to a maximum of 30 days. You can carry your balance over from year to year and bank up to double your annual accrual rate.


    13 per year, including 2 personal holidays.

    Sick leave

    12 days per year. You can carry over unused sick leave with no limit.

    Life insurance

    We provide a base term life insurance policy for you. You can also get supplemental insurance for yourself, your spouse and your dependents at affordable group rates.*

    Long term disability insurance

    We provide Base Long Term Disability Insurance policy. Buy-Up Long Term Disability Insurance is available at affordable group rates.*

    *Temporary staff

    Are eligible for some benefits:

    • Starting the first of the month following 3 months of employment: medical, dental, vision, and base life insurance.
    • Employment term of 6 months or more: TERS (described above).
    • Paid sick, vacation and holiday leave package based on length of employment.
