We’re opening a new COVID-19 testing site Thursday, Jan. 6, at Washington State Fair Bronze Lot

Do you have symptoms of COVID-19 and need to get tested? Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is partnering with the Washington State Fair and the City of Puyallup to open a new COVID-19 drive-thru testing site Thursday, Jan. 6, in the Fair’s Bronze Lot.

If you don’t have COVID symptoms or haven’t been exposed, please use an at home test.

Get tested if you have symptoms or if you have been exposed to COVID-19.

“We have a great demand for testing right now,” said Kejuan Woods, incident commander for the Health Department’s COVID-19 response. “We encourage people with respiratory symptoms to get tested—especially the elderly and with other health conditions. If you don’t have COVID symptoms or haven’t been exposed, please consider using an at home test,” he said. “We’re working with all our partners to provide more testing options for the community.”

You don’t need an appointment, and testing is free. We’ll have PCR tests this week, and we’ll add antigen testing soon. The site will be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday-Saturday this week. Starting next week, we’ll operate from Monday-Saturday for the next 2 months.

Pierce County Department of Emergency Management’s testing site at the State Fair’s Gold Lot will also operate from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday this week. You may experience heavy traffic and long wait times. Please prepare and be patient and respectful.

Other testing options include free at-home tests from local libraries or request a free test delivered to your home from SCAN. Medical offices and pharmacies throughout Pierce County offer testing as well.

Visit to view registration links and phone numbers to set appointments and find testing options near you. New CDC guidelines may make it easier to decide whether you need to get tested. If you are unable to leave your home or find a test, contact your medical provider and follow updated CDC guidelines for isolation and quarantine.
