Headed to the Washington State Fair? Get vaccinated there!

The Washington State Fair is in full swing.

The important annual event comes with a lot of changes this year, and Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department wants everyone to reduce their risks as much as possible.

And for those who aren’t yet vaccinated against COVID-19: now’s your chance.

The Health Department partnered with medical services provider Ambulnz to bring two vaccination locations to the Fair daily.

Now’s the time to grab a burger, hit a ride and get vaccinated all in one spot!

A great September pairing: Vaccines and the Washington State Fair.

Abiane Collymore, an operations supervisor with Ambulnz in Tacoma, says the Fair provides a unique opportunity to get a lifesaving vaccine while experiencing one of Washington’s seminal events.

“You can get the vaccine while you enjoy your time at the fair,” Collymore said. “A lot of people are going to be there all at once with their families.”

Visitors can find two vaccine stations at opposite ends of the Fair, one inside in the Showplex and the other outside near the rides.

About 30 people on average have gotten vaccinated each day at the Fair since it opened Sept. 3. Lots more people stop by to ask questions and find the latest on vaccine information. All three vaccines – Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Moderna – are available, Collymore says.

Fair attendees who get vaccinated also receive a special gift. Ambulnz will give anyone who gets vaccinated two free entry passes to the Fair.

The importance of the vaccine.

Our data shows we are experiencing the longest and strongest COVID-19 case increase we’ve seen since the beginning of the pandemic. Cases and hospitalizations are rising in Pierce County and across the country, driven by the highly contagious Delta variant.

Vaccinations are our best defense against COVID-19. Whether at the Fair or someplace else: Get vaccinated to help stop the spread of this deadly virus.

“Protect yourself and protect the people around you,” Collymore said. “Lets do our due diligence so our families can live to see another day.”
