You know you need to practice social distancing. You know you need to avoid large gatherings.

So what does that mean when you want to go out to eat?

Regulations are there to protect you.

Good news! You can practice social distancing when you dine out. Restaurants are open and continue to practice good hygiene and food safety. We have rules and regulations to make sure your food is safe—and all those good habits still apply during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Many restaurants are doing additional cleaning to keep their spaces safe for you and your family. Some have offered curbside pickup.

Do your part.

Make sure you’re following the usual steps to keep yourself safe when you eat:

  • Wash your hands before and after handling menus and before eating.
  • Practice good hand-washing hygiene: soap and water for 20 seconds.
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

If you are sick, part of a vulnerable population or otherwise uncomfortable eating out, you can:

  • Order takeout for delivery through apps like UberEats, DoorDash, etc.
  • Ask a friend/family member to pick food up for you.

Pierce County offers hundreds of wonderful places to eat. Now is a great time to get out and enjoy some food!
